The blog titled salaciouseros.co/201311/29/the… decided to use an image of mine he found on the Internet without asking my permission. . As the image was only posted to my Model Mayhem account and my tumblr, I know for certain that his usage amounts to a theft. It is a sad situation that artists find themselves in when trying to assert one's copyright, that is, a right of ownership, is looked at as putting a "Chilling Effect" on free speech and the Internet.
Well, I'm sorry, but using someone's work without their authorization is, plain and simple, THEFT. It is no excuse that you couldn't find any contact info to ask for permission. EVERY image on the Internet is copyright protected. The assumption should be that images on the Internet are not in "the Public Domain" as, in most cases, an image has to be at least 75 years old for copyright protection to expire.
So, when I discover unauthorized use of my images I like to take the opportunity to exercise MY First Amendment right to call you a Thief and a Cheat. I can't be sued for libel since I didn't authorize the use and I haven't given up my copyright. So, if you don't want to be labeled a thief all over the Internet, don't use someone else's work unless you get express, written permission from the creator of the image.
